Yes, furmark can be used to track temperatures and verify the cooling solution is functioning properly. The graphics card does have a fan stop feature. In some cases, fans increase speed briefly during light activity like browsing or watching YouTube before returning to normal once the desired temperature is reached. Adjusting the curve to target a lower turn-on temperature or using a steady slow fan speed resolved the problem for you.

I’m considering switching to fresh thermal paste and applying it to the board, since I haven’t changed it in nearly four and a half years.

It seems the temperatures are likely too high, causing the system to boost fan speeds to full capacity. This adjustment might be overriding any specific fan settings you've configured. Since I haven't changed the thermal paste yet, it could help improve cooling performance.

It shouldn't be heated to 100°C, your cooling system is faulty.

It seems fans typically adjust based on overall GPU temps rather than just the hottest area. I assume you use some software to manage fan speeds? My assumption is the GPU would throttle if it overheats and won’t increase fans beyond the set limit. Your cards seem to behave that way. If a reflow happens, thermal pads could be the culprit—make sure you have the right thicknesses available.

I generally stick to the default fan curve provided by the Nvidia drivers or other automatic controls. I also attempted to set up Gigabyte Control Center, but it didn’t work effectively—even after adjusting my own fan settings.

Check the fan control software to ensure it can send a command at full speed. The 76C GPU with a +100°C hotspot often indicates a paste problem, and sometimes a mounting issue caused by board warping from sagging.
