The platform costs a lot more. A 3300x version like the one @Mateyyy mentioned would offer better value. Comparing it to an AM 8600k with a limited platform makes it seem like a better deal.

The 8600K isn't too bad, yet at that cost you'd be close to getting a R5 3600.

Aim for the 3600 if possible, otherwise go with the 3300X. Both offer more threads than an 8600k. A 50% discount is appealing, but it’s being sold because demand isn’t there.
