Hey there, new PC builder! I just finished assembling my system and have been facing some boot issues. The error code 08 keeps appearing. Here’s what I’ve tried so far:

- Removed all RAM except one stick – mixed results.
- Swapped in multiple drives (Samsung, Crucial) – no improvement.
- Disconnected the GPU – nothing changed.
- Updated BIOS to a newer version – still stuck on 08.
- Cleared CMOS by removing battery and jumping connectors – sometimes helps, but it loops back.
- Checked CPU pins – everything looks correct.
- Ran BIOS into setup mode a few times – everything recognized.
- Tried different RAM configurations (64, 15, 00, 22, 99) – still 08.
- Updated GPU cable from included to splitter version – managed to get Windows install USB up.
- Ran BIOS update again after swapping the GPU cable – returned to code 08 a couple times.

I’m not sure if it’s hardware compatibility or something else. I have no spare parts to test, but I’d appreciate your advice before investing more. Also, I’ve noticed other codes like 64, 15, 00, 01, 22, 99 – I’ve booted into BIOS a few times and everything works when recognized.

Let me know what you think!

Testing with 2x32, let me know if it works.

I've already attempted this before using only one stick, but after retrying it, the issue persisted—stuck at 08 with no lights showing. No additional LEDs are functioning on the motherboard.

I just got a new memory model—Corsair Vengenance 64GB with two 32GB modules at 6400 MHz. Tested with 4, 2, and 1 sticks, all gave the same outcome using code 08. It makes me wonder if it's not memory-related or if another brand might be better. Should I consider a different CPU next?

The RAM brand isn't important since you've already installed one or two sticks; they only need to reach BIOS and Windows setup. Code 08 in the manual refers to a specific instruction or setting.

The code 08 isn't listed in the manual, so I had to research it—it seems related to CPU and memory setup. After rewiring the power cables and GPU, I managed to boot into the Windows installation media. When I restarted, I ended up back at version 08. After a forced restart, it switched to version 00, which appears to be a CPU initialization issue.

Are you giving it time for the memory training? Like waiting 5 to 10 minutes. Early configurations often need a lot of patience. Otherwise, I think the problem might be with the CPU, since that's where the memory controller is located, and the CPU Init error isn’t working well.

It seems the issue might have been with the motherboard. I replaced the old one with a different motherboard, CPU, and RAM, and tested everything. The new setup with the old CPU and RAM works better now. There was some difficulty at first, but overall it’s much more stable than using the Gigabyte board.

Please confirm if you'd like me to return the board or if you require a replacement. Let me know your preference so we can proceed.

Received progress on the return. Planning to ship it out tomorrow. Windows is installed and currently updating ASUS drivers. There was an issue where Ethernet wasn’t recognized during installation, but using a USB-to-Ethernet adapter resolved that. Now normal Ethernet is functioning properly. Uncertain about the situation but seems okay now.
