The main upgrade on X570/X570S boards comes from more I/O options and a PCIe 4.0 chipset rather than the older PCIe 3.0 found on B550 models. Choose the X570S if you want the expanded I/O features.

It's a decent board, the non-S version lacks some advanced options (no POST code, no plug-and-play M2...), but offers solid VRM, plenty of connectivity (USB and many PCIe ports for enthusiasts), and essential functions like debug LED and flashback. The X570 lets you run two 2MHz cores on Gen4.

I'm using a X570S Pro AX on a custom loop. It works well as a versatile motherboard, and I'm really satisfied. The only issue is the absence of a POST code, which has made some troubleshooting tricky.

Certain motherboards feature a two-digit LCD screen that can display any POST codes when your system doesn’t boot. My previous X99A MPOWER model had this handy for troubleshooting. The X570S lacks the LCD but offers debug LEDs that indicate problems with the CPU, RAM, GPU, etc., though they don’t provide a specific code.

Wow, that's impressive! It's definitely something to take in. Regarding the SN850x black units with heatsinks, they should fit well and function properly.

You need to decide whether to skip the motherboard heat sinks and use the regular SN850 units or take out the SN850s from their internal heat sinks and run them without any protection. I chose the latter, it looks cleaner and they stay much cooler.
