Getting Apipa IP each time you begin your PC
Hello everyone, I've been facing this unusual issue for a few months now. Every morning when I power on my PC, it displays an APIDA's IP like 169.254.xx.xx. After restarting, it shows a valid IP such as 192.168.xx.xx. I believe this isn't related to the router; it seems to be connected to my computer itself, which seems to reset automatically when I turn it off. Also, I can't use ipconfig /release or /renew while having that APIDA's IP assigned. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
Are there similar gadgets exhibiting this pattern? Do they connect via wired or wireless means? Could you provide the brand/model of the adapter? When you use the network troubleshooter, does it pinpoint the issue and fix it? Have you attempted to set a fixed LAN IP address for your PC?
1. No 2. Connected via cable.
3. Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller available.
4. Yes.
Checked the admin panel for unusual configurations on your main device and counted the additional machines connected to your network.
Do you have a switch that isn't managed? Is your configuration: computer → unmanaged switch → default gateway?
