Seeking suggestions for educational or fun games suitable for 5-6 year olds. Still figuring out where to start. I remember something similar to Turtle Academy from elementary school—big screen, colorful, and engaging. But I think it might be a bit too advanced for my niece right now; her brain is developing quickly. Also, I’m mainly looking for PC or tablet apps since I don’t want to share physical toys.

I used to play a game... it involved a dog and focused on various topics. I think it was called kickstart something.

Ideal for young learners, offering a positive and enriching experience. No gaming options stand out at the moment. One game might fit, though I’m unsure about the target age.

She’s beginning to practice spelling, addition, and subtraction; so I thought there might be a way to get her to count cats on a screen instead of using her fingers. My main goal is helping her build an understanding of computers first, but I’d need something fun and suitable for her age that captures her attention without involving my games or my PC.

Give her a desktop, but restrict installation to Arch Linux only. She’ll handle the rest.

the reader rabbit series remains active. exploring games like kerbal space program plants vs zombies can aid in developing problem-solving abilities. lego games such as crazy machines are available on steam, and you might find portal useful for similar challenges. it’s great for thinking through situations, and i’ll add more ideas as they come to mind.

This idea involves a device called a book, but it’s worth exploring. Children should spend time outdoors or learning through books, not screens! Preserving these traditions is important. I’m the one who mainly reads magazines on my phone, though.

ABC mouse is the one my three-year-old son uses, though the games are a bit too advanced for him.

Freddy fish or that tiny vehicle chuckles at adventures. That’s the story I told back in 2002.
