It appears the issue stems from Ubisoft's DRM anti-piracy software. Installing it on an SSD seems to improve performance significantly. This depends on your setup. I've shared what I understand now. I'm using FC5 with an i7 980X OC at 4.3 GHz, a GTX 1080 Ti, and it runs smoothly on an SSD. My CPU is older than yours.
