Hello, I've noticed in the last couple of months that my Rust gameplay is affected by random stutters. By checking Task Manager, I see my SSD reaching 100% and causing the game to lag at unpredictable times. It seems this issue mainly occurs during Rust sessions, not other games. Could it be that my SSD is nearing the end of its life? I've owned it for about three to four years.

The person in the YT video has almost the same specs, though their RAM usage stays under 13GB. You might want to check their graphics settings and see how they differ. A game that requires more than 15GB RAM on a system with only 16GB is definitely an issue for a modern OS like Windows 10, likely contributing to the problem. I pay close attention to my OS settings, especially since Windows 10 collects a lot of telemetry data. All my apps are turned off and I use O&O to block certain processes...

Are you keeping the SSD capacity to less than 85% of actual space available? That is a strong recommendation not just for HDDs, but SSDs as well.

I own 212 GB available out of a total 476 GB on my SSD. The HDD has 486 GB free from 931 GB in total.

Over the past two months, have you set up any third-party applications, especially ones running in the background during games, or performed thorough maintenance on your PC? Additionally, could you clarify what you mean by the SSD reaching full capacity? Have you checked any diagnostic tools for the drive?

I don’t think I’ve installed any third-party programs in the past two months and haven’t performed thorough cleaning in the last two months. My cleaning isn’t deep, I usually just use a can of compressed air for actual cleaning rather than disk maintenance. What tests would you suggest?

Many SSD makers offer a complimentary diagnostic utility. Samsung's is named Magician. There are also complimentary third-party SSD testing applications, and it seems you don't have to rely solely on your brand's solution. Still, verify the drive thoroughly before concluding it's faulty, ensure any necessary drivers are installed, and confirm TRIM functionality.

I investigated Samsung's Magician diagnostic tool, but it doesn't function with my SSD. I tested my SSD and shared the benchmark and disk details. Patriot offers a SATA toolbox app, though it lacks diagnostic features. It mentions my SSD is "too old" and has no available firmware updates. Using the device manager, I checked for driver updates for my Patriot Spark SSD—it shows the latest driver is installed. I followed your instructions to ensure TRIM was enabled. I'll revisit later tonight to verify if disk usage remains at 100% while trying to play Rust.

The Toolbox app performs a diagnostic by verifying bad blocks, and it reports passing all tests without errors. The 68% health score is probably due to the number of writes and erases logged in its memory, which aligns with how SSD lifespan is generally assessed. If you're confident there are no software issues, including a full SFC scan with image restoration before use as MS advises, it might be the PSU (I didn’t see it listed in your spec). Follow these instructions exactly...
