I recently acquired a new router (Linksys AC1300), a 5GbHz gigabit model. I installed it to enjoy VR, but it behaves the same as my old headset. How can anyone say the Quest 2 is superior for PC VR? I’m confused and don’t know what to do. Below are my VD settings and specs:

VD SETTINGS: low graphics, 80mbps sliced encoding, video buffering disabled
SPECS: MSI Vega 64, 8GOC R5, 1600 MHz OC, GSKILL Ripjaw 16GB DDR4, 2933MHZ OC, B450M DS3H, 750W, latest drivers installed.

Well, the key advantage is wireless connectivity, though it doesn't quite match expectations compared to other options. Many people claim it performs better in terms of speed and responsiveness than alternatives like the Rift S. I recently got a Quest 2 for fitness purposes, but I also wanted to experiment with virtual desktop since it has improved significantly since launch (I even returned mine). Personally, it still feels a bit sluggish—especially noticeable at higher speeds. Visually, it appears somewhat blurry or smudged, though it looks sharp up close. At a distance it seems less clear. If you're new to VR and haven't used anything similar before, it might seem great, but those who are accustomed to other headsets will likely find it underwhelming.

It doesn't matter how fast your connection is; I resolved the issue with H.264, but the game still appears poor compared to what I saw at a MineCon three years back.

It seems you're concerned about performance issues. Your connection might be limited by the network speed rather than just your settings. The internal network speed plays a role, and a stronger link would help. If local applications are slow too, it could indicate an incorrect IPD setting.

He mentioned internet speed, I’m using the medium setting. I have a 5Gbps gigabit connection. Do you know what your specifications are?

I own a 5GHz setup with roughly 900MB of memory, and it connects via Ethernet. My machine is an R7 5800X paired with a GTX 1070. It's challenging mainly because what feels better varies from person to person. The biggest issue with the Vive was the screen resolution. Besides that, everything appears fairly sharp, though there are occasional blurriness moments. Adjusting the headset closer helps. VirtualDesktop seems more suitable than native Quest apps since it offers higher performance. Quest applications run quite optimized but feel less refined.

What configurations are you employing? I have a superior GPU, which seems unusual.

I prefer applying it at high settings and reducing the render scale in games when needed.

The settings mainly influence the resolution with minimal impact. I typically use about 80Mb bitrate. I prefer clean menus and like the game to run smoothly in Steam. Lowering the render scale helps when lag occurs, similar to adjusting the virtual desktop settings. It changes instantly so you can tweak it while playing.
