I don't really understand it yet. I guess it's just extra space for storing many files, similar to RAM but slower. ROG wouldn't make sense unless you're fully utilizing your RAM.
However, regarding memory leaks, I don’t believe I have any. My usage was lower than yours even when running the same apps. This issue is really bothersome. I’m unable to play for more than about 30 minutes.
Consider trying overclocking your GPU. While you mentioned using Asus' 5-way optimization software for the CPU, it's possible your GPU is still running at its default settings. Running benchmarks and adjusting memory and clock speeds could potentially improve performance.
This matches the issue I encountered before. Audio and video were stuttering, which suggests a RAM problem. Constant 2 GB usage was visible in Task Manager when RAM wasn’t positioned correctly. Only Chrome and Steam were active, but they weren’t running at idle. It seemed 2 GB of RAM was excessive for idle use, and it never decreased even when idle. Could you confirm the locations of your DIMMs? I just want to double-check.
And on your motherboard, is there a diagram indicating which slots are channel 1? If available, follow the instructions and install your RAM there. Let me know your findings!
