Key failed and I didn’t purchase the shield since I’m uneasy about someone on the opposite side of the globe watching my computer. They only see the screen, and there’s nothing they can verify. I’m handling a PayPal dispute now.

You purchased an item tailored to your local area and acquired it from a well-reviewed vendor with a high volume of transactions.

G2A functions similarly to an eBay for keys, but sometimes sellers try to trick buyers. It’s best to purchase from reputable sellers with a strong track record. I used shield frequently, but now it’s unnecessary since most of my games come from G2A smoothly. You’re likely not getting scammed on Steam Marketplace as often as on G2A—just make sure to follow the guidelines.

It's a marketplace, not just the G2A team selling keys. Real people visit there, fill out forms, and pay money—just like on eBay. They also support charity efforts. If you get the G2A Shield (around $0.99), the service is top-notch. They quickly assign a live person to help with issues and stay with you until everything is fixed.

I never purchased a key that didn’t function. I’ve heard some stories about scams on eBay... can you imagine?

Use the G2A protection – you were scammed by a G2A seller, not G2A itself. Reach out to support and request a refund within three days. Also, your Steam gift key could be invalid.

Bundle Stars is another option to explore. I haven’t purchased anything from them, though I’ve received a few free Steam keys via their promotions.
