High FPS isn't always the best way to measure game smoothness. For instance, if your frame rate fluctuates rapidly—rising and falling within 999 milliseconds—yet ends up at 60 FPS, it may still appear as 60 FPS. This phenomenon is known as micro-stuttering. It explains why you might experience fluid motion when watching 60fps video but feel laggy while playing at the same frame rate. To detect micro-stuttering, monitor your frame time. Install MSI Afterburner, select frame time and display it graphically, play a game, and review the log. If your frame time remains consistently low, your gameplay should be smooth. If the frame time varies like a heartbeat, stuttering is occurring.
The scaling was adjusted to center. A 60 FPS performance runs smoothly on YouTube. Games set to 60 FPS often seem like they're running at 30 FPS consistently.
