I created a backup using the control panel > system and security > backup and restore (Windows 7) on the network drive. The backup file appears as a massive 99 GB on the drive. After cleaning the laptop hard drive and installing a fresh Windows 10, I attempted to restore but failed. How can I recover my previous version from this backup?

Was das 99 GB eine VHD-Datei zu sein? Du kannst wahrscheinlich darauf montieren und Dateien kopieren, wenn du nur ein Bild gemacht hast. Unter den Mount-Einstellungen was zeigt sich normalerweise die Größe, die Version und die verwendete Software.

Start from the Windows 10 installer and select Additional Options (next to the Install Now button), then pick Restore Image. Be aware of permission settings for your NAS, ensuring the image folder is accessible to guests.
