Find ways to work around carrier-grade NAT settings.
I managed to start the webserver and Minecraft server successfully yesterday. The network became slower, so I restarted the router and the ISP gave me 10.x.x.x as my WAN IP (it was 38.x.x.x before). The website showed my IP wasn’t 10.x.x.x. I looked up CGNAT on Google but didn’t find a clear way to work around it. I’m confident I set up port forwarding correctly.
Check with your ISP for a public V4 IP. If not available, consider using a VPN to host services.
Confirmed - I handle connectivity issues for a regional ISP, and this is essentially the main issue besides "my Wi-Fi isn't working." Users struggling with CoD on consoles due to network restrictions often face the same problem. The best fix remains securing a static or public IP address.
It differs between internet service providers. Some charge extra each month, while others provide a fixed IP address for a one-time fee. Depending on your method of getting the connection, the ISP might or might not supply a static IP. The ISP I use at home gives me a 1000/60 connection via COAX (TV signal), but I can’t get a static IP. This depends entirely on how the ISP delivers the service to you. The best way to clarify is talking directly with your provider or asking your parents.
They don’t understand anything about static IPv4, so involving them isn’t helpful. Talking to the service provider isn’t an option since I don’t have a phone number from when the router was installed. They’re the only path forward.
