I started with the 7900xtx, attempted installation, and discovered my motherboard only supported PCIe Gen4. I upgraded to the i9 11900KF since it did meet that requirement. When powering on the PC, the XFX on the 7900xtx briefly lights up for a second, fans twitch, but nothing happens. I’ve restarted the card multiple times, tried different power cables, checked every PCIe slot, and updated the BIOS. I’m unsure if it will work now or if there’s another issue I’m missing. Anyone who can spot something might help.

It might be a failed attempt because the 6800xt can run on the same setup. I’d send it back to receive a refund.

Use two cables and connect both sides of the connectors on the power supply. If you have multiple displays, link just one. Clear the CMOS on the computer’s back panel via the clear button or remove the battery while the PSU is off for a few minutes before reinserting the new card.

To confirm your understanding, do you mean each red and green zone should have a single cable in that zone, or should all cables be grouped in one zone? Also, the 7900xtx model includes three 8-pin connectors.

I tested one cable in zone 1, two in zone 2; swapped two in zone 1 and one in zone 2. Swapped three in zone 1 and three in zone 2 – lights came on briefly then stopped completely. PC boots up fully, keyboard and mouse are functional, and it recognizes the login screen at the windows position.

Upgrade the 6800XT by using DDU to uninstall the display driver. At one stage, decide whether the system should power off to allow installation of a new card. Then proceed to install the 7900XT and apply the newest drivers.

Do you have sufficient room for both cards? Begin by installing the 6800XT, then power it on. Next, add the 7900XTX while keeping the monitor linked to the 6800XT. Check if it appears in Device Manager.

I've handled this too; all setups include the 6800xt in the first and last positions, but the 7900xtx appears in a different slot where my system doesn't recognize it.

I also tried this recently and it doesn’t appear to work yet, making me wonder if I received a faulty card. My PC part picker shows compatibility, but the site claims the 10700KF isn’t supported by PCIe Gen4, so I’m unsure how trustworthy that information is right now.
