Extreme voltage spikes affecting the latest CPU unit
Today I received a new CPU (Ryzen 5 2600) and installed it without much trouble. As soon as I powered up my PC, I noticed an American Megatrends display indicating the CPU change and warning about high voltage. (Operates between 2.4-2.8V). Any suggestions on how to resolve this issue?
Yes, CMOS acts as the power source between the input/output and the CPU.
It should be a small silver button cell about 2cm wide. You’ve likely followed the steps correctly—removed the battery, turned off the power, held the power on button, and left it out for 10–20 minutes before reinserting. If that’s what you did, your power supply might be the issue. Do you have another one to try?
I missed mentioning that I encountered several blue screens with the error code: MEMORY_MANAGEMENT POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA
I've made two updates to my BIOS and tested it with a single RAM stick plus additional components.
