I prepared my PC for regular World Of Tanks sessions, switching to a higher resolution of 800x600. Sometimes this happens, but I wasn’t sure why. After adjusting the in-game settings back to my standard 1824x1026 resolution and starting a match, I noticed only 5-10 FPS. Normally I hit around 40 FPS with mid to low settings due to my slow processor (AMD Phenom x4 840). My GPU is a GTX 960, and the PC specs are listed below. After restarting, the problem persisted. I suspect my CPU is limiting performance, especially since it’s a single-core game. Over the past couple of months, I’ve maintained around 30-40 FPS, but recently I’m struggling to exceed 15 FPS. The issue seems worse now that it’s mostly a CPU-bound game. My current utilization is about 60%, which is typical, yet performance dropped significantly. What changed and how can I resolve this? Any real-world advice would be appreciated. System details: Coolmaster CM690III case, running Windows 10 64-bit, AMD Phenom II X4 840 (3.2GHz stock), 2x 4GB DDR3 RAM, ASRock N68-S3 motherboard, GTX 960 GPU, Kingston V300 SSD, Cougar RS 750W PSU, Hitachi HD 5400RPM, Logitech Z506 speakers, LG DVD burner, PALTV6042fHD, World Of Tanks 2014, DeathAdder mouse, and a mouse pad. Logitech G930 headset.

I've been running Windows 10 for almost a month, and I've had Windows Optimization Toolkit (WOT) installed on the same disk. Everything is working fine. It was just this morning when I began using it.

I don't have access to external links or current resources. You might want to check official DX12 websites or community forums for assistance.

Recent changes, The processor continues to operate at 50% even after restarting the system. This unusual behavior appears suddenly. The machine worked smoothly yesterday but now seems to be struggling.

Checked for new installations since your last session. Examined Task Manager to identify CPU-heavy processes.

It looks like the issue might be related to background processes consuming CPU. Downloading software onto your PC could have caused this. The task manager shows high CPU usage, possibly due to a program running in the background. Reverting to a backup may help if the problem stems from malware.
