The MGMT indicator on my extreme networks 400-24t switch began flashing unexpectedly. I checked online but found no information about it. The Ethernet ports aren’t lighting up or functioning, though the switch was powered on for an hour with the light still blinking and not changing. Need assistance.

What hue is being displayed? It’s been more than ten years since I connected to an Extreme switch, yet this is what they once showed: orange flashing means POST failed, overheating, some kind of malfunction. Green flashing indicates it’s still starting. If it’s been running for an hour, you’re unlikely to enjoy it much. Are there any signals coming from the serial console?

Couldn't access the serial port, never located a cable, and the indicator has been flashing for an hour...

Refer to page 78 for the LED status meanings on this switch. The manual at the provided link explains settings on page 305, and pin configurations are detailed in pages 316-317. I haven’t checked for a console cable option, but if you obtain a DIY adapter, you can replicate the pinout for your own connector.

I also came across a forum post suggesting it might be due to swollen capacitors. I checked the interior, everything looks fine. Probably time to grab a cable and explore further. It’s odd how the software could shift unexpectedly…

On older devices like switches and routers, flash memory can fail or become corrupted during startup. Power supply problems are another common cause.

I don’t have any experience with older Extreme switches, and they don’t seem to match what I see in the newer models.

Weird... Idk the power supply looks fine, maybe it was the new surge protector that I plugged it into that messed it up.
