The cable connects to the motherboard, then to the PSU, followed by the SSD. The extra connections on the cable might be for additional ports or interfaces.

These power connectors allow you to connect up to four drives when housed in a case with an SSD/HDD cage. This simplifies the process of plugging everything in without needing several cables. Each drive has its own data port, which are the smaller ones. The cable leading to the motherboard connects directly to the SSD, the smaller data cable. The larger power cable originates from the PSU and reaches the SSDs, featuring four connectors on it.
