I purchased a fresh set of 3600MHz Corsair Vengeance Pro RAM modules. After noticing my system only ran at 2666MHz, I attempted to boost performance using the XMP profile on my ASUS X570 Plus Wi-Fi motherboard. The issue arose after about 15 minutes of light browsing—burning plastic smell appeared, even though I removed the packaging. Running Warzone on a 3440x1440p monitor at maximum settings for a minute intensified the odor and caused the machine to crash. Specs: CPU Ryzen 5 3600 (STOCK COOLER), GPU RX 5700 XT, MOTHERBOARD ASUS TUF X570 PLUS (WIFI), HDD 1TB WD BLUE, 2TB SEAGATE, PSU 750 GX COOLER, Master RAM Corsair Vengeance Pro RGB 3600MHZ, 18CL case, Corsair Spec 1 (2 fans intake, 1 exhaust). I wouldn’t keep it up for a long time until you find the issue, but does it still appear?
performing some GSKill adjustments at 1.45v causes them to heat up significantly. Removing them right after turning off the device makes them extremely hot to the touch, which is typical. The smell isn’t burnt plastic—it’s a lingering odor that suggests something might be amiss. If you decide to disassemble them, check for any unusual components that could explain the issue.
The main problem isn't the burnt plastic at the ATM, but that it crashed right after playing Warzone for just one minute.
