SPECS GPU model: ASUS TUF RTX 3070TI with 8GB RAM. CPU: RYZEN 5 5600X. Cooler: Cooler Master Hyper TX3 Evo. SSD: SAMSUNG 860 EVO 1TB. Power Supply: Corsair CV 650W. RAM: 32GB Corsair 3600MHz. Monitor: Standard 1440p at 144Hz and a 1080p monitor at 144Hz. I've observed my Ryzen 5 5600X frequently stalling after about six months, though I hadn't investigated it before. It sometimes spikes to 100% during web browsing or gaming, especially in games like Warhammer, Warzone 2/MW2, Isonzo, and Battlefield 5. Currently, usage shifts from 15% to 30% when Spotify plays. This isn’t extreme, but it increases significantly during YouTube videos. My Windows 10 is up-to-date, and GPU drivers are current. A benchmark I ran showed the RTX 3070TI and 5600X lagging by about 100FPS at Warzone 1440p. At identical low settings, I achieved 40-60fps versus the benchmark’s 140+. I cleared dust from my system before testing. Temperatures are normal: the GPU stays under 55°C during gaming, and the CPU peaks around 70°C under load. I’m puzzled and need guidance. I’m not highly technical, so I don’t know what might be causing this performance drop while maintaining low FPS. The cooling seems adequate, but could throttling occur? I shouldn’t be playing Warzone at 50fps with DLSS enabled or running Isonzo on medium-low and expecting similar results as the benchmark under full ultra settings. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Possible solutions you might try: BIOS update, GPU driver rollback, fresh Windows install, new thermal paste application.

What kind of motherboard are you having? It seems the CPU isn't being detected correctly. CPU-Z should display the complete CPU model. This might occur if the BIOS doesn't fully support the processor.

The game is consuming all available resources. I thoroughly examined my Task Manager to identify any processes using a lot of performance, but I didn't find anything.

View the newest BIOS updates at the provided link. Next, download the most recent chipset driver from AMD. Finally, let me know if you need further assistance.

Thanks for helping me out, I did all of that and the issue persists. Here is an image of when I was playing isonzo on medium settings. I got around 90-100 fps while the benchmark user with the same specs had around 110 on ULTRA settings at around 30-50% CPU load. Surely there has to be a physical issue with the CPU right? This can't be normal.

I can't directly post or share screenshots, but I can guide you on how to find them using CPU-Z. Simply open CPU-Z, it will display the CPU, motherboard, and memory details with screenshots available for viewing.

Visit the latest CPU-Z download page for updated information. Your RAM operates at 2133 MHz, which means your Ryzen's internal bus runs at 1066 MHz—this creates a significant bottleneck for Zen2 or Zen3 CPUs. Optimal performance is achieved with RAM speeds of 3600 MHz (FSB 1800); 3200 is still acceptable but under 3000 becomes a major limitation, especially with 2133 being the lowest. Consider enabling XMP/DOCP in BIOS and setting it to Profile 1. Save your configuration and capture CPU-Z screenshots after booting Windows. Once we have those, we can proceed with testing.

New images have been captured after turning on profile 1. A notable problem has appeared. Yesterday I adjusted the speed to 3600mhz manually. Programs began crashing—MW2 froze during menu loading, Isonzo crashed when starting a match, and Google Chrome tabs stopped working randomly. I switched back to automatic memory speed. After this update, my Chrome tab crashed once while writing this text. EDIT: Google Chrome is now crashing about once per minute, and MW2 continues to crash. I’m considering removing two of the new RAM sticks and reverting to 16GB if it helps.
