If you're not reaching your peak performance right now, then it's okay. It won't speed things up, but it can ease any delays you're feeling.

Due to the low cost of RAM these days, an 8-bit configuration is almost typical now.

It looks a bit unusual. You’re running Witcher 3 BF4 and MGSV at the same time while keeping other things off. @ Bobby_Joe_80 suggests you focus on investing more if you’re always online. Stick with 8 if you’re playing games—some titles say they need that, but we’ll find out.

You're running about 4.3 GB with multiple apps open—Opera, Steam, GOG Galaxy, Spotify, Skype, and Witcher 3—before starting any games. Witcher 3 alone uses roughly 3 GB (2.5–3.3 GB depending on load). Combined with 4.3 GB, that's over 7.6 GB total.

Opera's current memory usage seems higher compared to Chrome, especially with many tabs open. It looks like Chrome has seen significant optimizations recently, while Opera hasn't fully adopted those changes yet. With over seven tabs and nearly 5 gigabytes used, your setup is definitely pushing its limits.

When not using the full 8 gigabytes right now—such as staying under roughly 6 gigabytes, likely—and you're unlikely to significantly alter your computer usage, upgrading isn't necessary. However, if you frequently edit videos or photos, open many browser tabs (especially media-heavy ones), or plan to play demanding AAA games like Witcher 3, then a 16GB upgrade makes sense. Available options include 16GB DDR3 sets (2x8 or 4x4) for about $80–100, while DDR4 is roughly $20 more. You might also find better deals by comparing prices on other sites or using PC Parts Picker.

Check your own system, it’s unclear why you’re facing such heavy demands. The software may be indicating specific needs or limitations.
