Verify that the DNS server service is configured for automatic management. If not, adjust the setting, restart the service, and attempt the operation again.

As mentioned earlier, I've tested 1.1.1.1 and 8.8.8.8 along with the router's DNS settings.

Review event viewer > Windows log > System for any issues. Filter results by Windows Update Client.

I’m discussing features, not configurations. I came across an issue in the 2004 Windows release concerning the service startup mode and how Windows Update relies on this service since other dependent services require a DNS client service.
