Erase and Install?
Hi, I also couldn't find anything useful. During a new installation of 11, I selected an option indicating it might take hours, but all data disappeared. When I clicked Search, it showed my previous searches. I think it doesn’t remove malware either. Can you tell me how to completely wipe everything and reinstall 11 without using that step? There should be another way to clear the system and ask for a fresh install when the computer starts up.
A fresh setup of Windows 11?
How To - Windows 11 clean install guide
This guide aims to assist you through each stage of performing a complete Windows 11 installation, version 23H2 or later. It can also be used for previous versions, though some visual differences may remain despite overall similarities.
Thanks, no success. It performed the same actions repeatedly and I still see previous searches. So I retried but got stuck in a cycle with all the screens; I couldn't unhook the USB, which caused it to fail instantly. After the third loop, I unplugged the USB instead of trying a fourth attempt, and it began the restore process right away.
I went through every screen, removed partitions I didn’t need except one that refused deletion, then proceeded with setup, ensuring to start it as a new computer.
NOPE. If I DBAN Nuke it, is there a way to reinstall Windows after completely wiping it?
The partition that wouldn’t delete said: “Windows cannot be installed to this disk. The selected disk has an MBR partition table. On EFI system, Windows can only be installed to GPT disks.”
Some sites suggested fixes, so maybe this is the issue. I’ll look into it, as I have nothing to lose—just need to spend a long time clearing out MS bloatware and reconfiguring settings.
For a genuine fresh setup, you HAVE TO remove every partition. And yes, it must use GPT.
Ok, Thanks... What about DBAN?
If I DBAN Nuke it, is there an option to reinstall Windows after I wipe it completely?
It's exactly similar to a fresh setup on a brand new drive.
However, after following the link provided, you won't have to go that far.
Absolutely, I choose to go with a fresh installation. It forces me to log in, which is different from the older versions I recall.
