When your data is connected to your MS account, this is what occurs.
It links your search records to your MS profile.
On the new PC, these details remain visible.

Side note... I'm just beginning to look into Macrium. Is it actually effective, especially compared to MS System Restore?

I don't mind if the search history remains, but that serves as a sign of whether the overall process succeeded or not.

When you remove every prior partition, the initial setup on that disk disappears completely. The items linked to your MS account might change afterward. Please clear all current partitions before proceeding.

I'll handle the GPT adjustment as required, then proceed with the Local Account only choice I discovered.

You might need to perform the real activation using your MS account.
This will handle the actual license activation and verification.
Once done, you can set up a Local account and use it.
That's exactly what I do.
However, for a fresh installation you should remove all existing partitions.

I want to review my search records to confirm everything functioned properly, just like before. Once I switch to a local account, the history should disappear, which would reassure me it was all resolved.
I’m unsure if you’re affiliated with Microsoft, but they’re extremely hard to reach for Xbox problems—no need to use their services for anything else.
I plan to load some .308 rounds into this setup and install a Linux system.

No, I don't work for MS in any way.
But if you completely remove all existing partitions and then proceed with the installation, everything will be erased.
No files, trojans, keyloggers, etc., etc.
BUT...if you have previously synced data to your MS account, that may appear in the new install.
What you can do to be 100% certain nothing remains from the old drive is to install on a brand new one.

To erase every backup linked to your Microsoft account, visit account.microsoft.com/devices, log in, and navigate to Cloud synced settings. Select the option to remove stored settings, then confirm to delete all backups connected to your account.
