Hey everyone, I'm facing an issue where my work desktop sometimes stays locked or asleep without waking up. I'm not sure what's causing it, but I don't remember the exact details. If you have any specs or more info, please let me know. I'm also not sure what to share beyond that. Xeon E3-1226 v3, 32GB RAM, 1600MHz DDR3. It looks like a HP Z230 with some modifications.
It could be connected to any OS component. On Windows, have you attempted executing "sfc /scannow" via Command Prompt with admin privileges? It might seem unusual, but it's worth trying. Note: Resetting CMOS could also be beneficial. Updated July 29, 2024 by vanpuffelen
Yes, ive run a sfc/scannow, i havent dabelled with the CMOS yet, wary to attempt too much as this is a company computer, but there are some things i can tinker with, ill give the CMOS a shot when it happens again
The official HP support page recommends updating drivers and other settings. You've already completed that, haven't you?
Have you attempted pressing the power button to check if it activates when the click doesn't respond?
I could handle it, except for the BIOS—it still functions normally and I don’t want to ruin a work PC, even if just temporarily.
Yeah, most combinations i could think of, and holding it down for any longer than i was doing forces shut down, which i usually end up having to do anyway
c11 not that it matters since its just some bare pcb jedec 1600c11 id try a cmos reset after saving bios settings or taking pics of all the menus but since this is a work computer might wanna try contacting the it department or whoever deals with configuring the computers at work
