Why? This setup isn't ideal for a 7800X3D. It will likely default to 2:1 mode with reduced memory efficiency compared to a 6000 CL30 kit. If you force it to 1:1 manually, stability is only around 50/50 in my experience, and even then, you'd be better off overclocking a 6000 CL30 to 6400 CL32. Again, X670E boards are costly, and unless you require their exclusive features, the extra cost isn't justified over a B650(E) board. Their performance matches that of budget options like a B650M-HDV/M.2, offering only added perks if you actually use them.

What specs should I consider buying or upgrading for? I'm playing CS at 1440p and getting 120-175 FPS. My monitor is 275 Hz, so I want to make better use of that refresh rate. I suspect my CPU might be limiting performance. Maybe I'm mistaken.

You chose the 7800X3D well for the CPU. The motherboard choice will vary based on your specific requirements (USB ports, PCIe slots, etc.). For RAM, opt for a 2x16GB 6000 CL30 kit at a reasonable price. Please confirm so I can send you a notification.

The issue lies with the model number, but it’s still suitable for your stated requirements.

You designed your earlier machine to stay relevant for the long term, right? But now you're swapping it out? That’s not really possible. There’s no way to make something truly future-proof. You’ll need to upgrade again in about five years, I think. As before, you’re planning for 6000CL30 RAM, and any B650 board should work smoothly (and support upcoming models too). Choosing a X670E isn’t practical, but having the right features is. Are there specific capabilities missing from the B650? Also keep in mind that PCIe Gen5 isn’t a factor here.

Upgrading to a modern Xeon processor makes sense because it significantly boosts performance, enabling smoother gameplay and handling more demanding titles without lag.

It all hinges on the specific tasks the computer is handling. Only those working with cutting-edge tools truly need to prepare for the future. Those who claim otherwise are either exaggerating or trying to elevate their skills. I focus on ensuring my setup stays adaptable, and the only reason this statement feels outdated is if it’s tied to a short-term use case.
