Looking for a solid CPU to match your 2060 Super setup. You're moving away from AMD's 2700X and planning to skip the AM5 socket. You want a processor that handles titles such as Civ, Halo, and Cities Skylines well.

Purchase a refurbished 5600(x) typically under $100 on the FB marketplace, offering strong performance with 2700x in both single and multi-core configurations

A fresh item costs $130 during Prime Day. It could be worth it because the FB Marketplace near you is offering around $100.

Do you believe the 5700x justifies an additional $40? At $170 on Amazon, it seems a bit steep unless the GPU really stands out.

For gaming, no. But don’t worry about believing there’s a CPU that’s “too far above the GPU.” That idea doesn’t exist and isn’t an issue you’ll face. The alternative might cause problems in certain cases, but that’s not the situation here. You can purchase any CPU you desire.

That's a good observation. It looks like the extra cores won't make much difference for gaming. You might want to stick with 5600X and add an extra 16GB of RAM instead.

I match a 2060 Super with a 5800X. Thought it was worth investing a bit more now that AM4 remains solid, and it will accommodate a stronger GPU in the future. A solid CPU is also useful for many other tasks. Still, the 5600’s worth isn’t hard to see.
