Hello. Recently my internet service provider installed new optical cable in our home. They claim I have 1000/200 Mbit/s bandwidth. They mention certain requirements for achieving that speed. I’m certain if I have a 100 Mbps network card, I’ll get 100 Mbps. My setup: Gigabyte P55M UD3 (the website says it has a 1 Gbps onboard networking card), Intel Xeon X3440 (clocked up to 3.6 MHz) and 12 GB of RAM. The technician also left a KAT6 cable. My provider is DIGI. They gave me a LUSTER Chinese receiver, a FTTH receiver, and a Huawei HG8121H router (I use the GE port). Despite this, my speed test still shows full 100/100 bandwidth, which matches what I had before the upgrade. When I called to check if my package was updated, they said yes if I use the optical cable. My guess is my onboard card isn’t 1 Gbps capable, but why would the manufacturer say otherwise? Someone suggested I ask my ISP to switch my Huawei HG8121H to a bridge so I could use my own router. Any advice?

Is 1000 Mbps considered quick? 1Gbps equals 1000Mbps, or 1000 Megabits each second, which is extremely rapid. To be precise, this refers to 1000 Megabits (Mb) not Megabytes (MB). ... Or 1,000Mbps translates to roughly 125 MB/s. Are you certain your connection isn’t a 100 MB/s service like mine (and I usually reach about 130 Mbps)? Or do you actually have a fiber link and that’s the limit?

Theoretically I possess this. After researching a bit, I discovered a post in my country that examines this topic. I believe Speedtest.net gauges performance in Mbit/s, and my latest test matches that.

Verify your internet link in your operating system, ensuring it’s active at 1000mbits. If your Ethernet cable isn’t CAT 6, it might only support 100mbps. Any device linked between the fiber access point and your PC should also be rated for 1000mbit and operate at that rate.

You don’t have a 10GB drive available to demonstrate the steps. Typically, you visit the network and sharing center, select “Change Adapter Settings,” and then double-click your connection.
