It's a really tough chip. I believe this component is essentially non-functional. Even if it's not fully broken, there will be significant loss of capability. Generally, people are correct when a tiny chip can still work, but this one is missing a substantial amount of its die.

That being said, it remains a weak spot where additional microcracks might begin to spread, ultimately damaging the circuit beneath or nearby. Keep saving up for a new CPU edit—while silicon die is an ideal lattice, it may still pose a challenge.

The question is: what were you really thinking? Were you using a quality tool or just a basic one? Did something slip up during the process? And what actually happened?

Seems only a surface level. If it starts and works, I’d consider you fine for the chip’s lifespan. Just use the Intel Processor Diagnostic Tool to confirm.

And you're right!! It's interesting how the silicon chipping doesn't really impact performance. I've seen many processors with this issue and they still worked well. @Mahbub, great work on the lid! I'm hoping the temperatures have improved now.
