Hello everyone, I noticed a pretty poor performance when I began playing today. I checked the FPS settings and found around 23fps consistently at the best presets. When I reduced the settings, it stuck at 23fps or lower, usually around 28fps. I have a quad-core processor with 3.9GHz, an R9 390X GPU, and 24GB of RAM. I'm running the game on a 2048x1152 resolution. Ideally, it should run smoothly at over 40fps with the best settings. On the day I got it, it matched that speed without any changes. Other games work well at a steady 60fps (like Witcher 3). I restarted my PC, reinstalled the game, but nothing improved... Anyone have suggestions? Mostly I bought the game for its appearance, not performance. This slow gameplay isn’t enjoyable if you actually need better hardware to avoid such issues.

It looks quite low, aren't you? You're not using a frame limiter in the game, are you?

It seems your processor is having some issues... (FX-6300 could help if your system supports it!)

As discussed, I could run it at optimal configurations at 45fps without issues. Witcher 3 operates smoothly at 45fps in Ultra mode too. Therefore, the CPU seems sufficient. (Not claimed it would boost performance with a faster one.) The performance just dropped suddenly. That’s what’s frustrating me...

It might be a driver issue. Have you made any recent updates?

The update happened once the issue arose. Therefore, it likely wasn't the cause.

Your FX-4100 CPU falls short compared to your GPU... sorry!

As you mentioned, I understand. I usually manage around 10 fps or less when using just that one setting. However, it ran smoothly at 45 fps with the best configurations a few days ago for those hours of playtime. The CPU seemed capable of handling it well. Now it should drop further?

it varies by location within the game...some sections require significantly more processing power than others...and believe it or not, with any AMD FX processor you'll experience a drop of over 10 frames per second when running an R9 390X...even using a Core i5 would hit performance boundaries in certain titles.

You think only updating the CPU might affect frame rates? I tested Unigine, Witcher 3, Shadow of Mordor, and ARK—each ran smoothly (+45fps at high settings). The new Tomb Raider is tough, but it performed better under similar conditions. I’m not sure if the CPU is the issue, but I’ll have to wait for my next paycheck before getting another one... Maybe an 8-core AM3+ would work then.
