Electronic interference from computers disrupting garage door operation
Electronic interference from computers disrupting garage door operation
We have three PCs in a room next to the garage. It seems multiple factors might be causing radio interference at 315 MHz, making it hard to hear the garage door opener. Are there typical sources of this kind of noise on these devices? Possible fixes include checking for loose connections, updating firmware, or moving equipment away from metal structures. You're considering covering the garage ceiling with aluminum foil—could that help block the signal? If the issue persists, it might be worth testing other nearby electronics or consulting a technician.
I have some questions. Is this a recent issue or a new garage door? Do you own more than one remote, and are they all having communication problems? It’s possible, but RF interference isn’t my first concern. The 315 MHz frequency isn’t something I’m familiar with a PC emitting.
You're completely unfamiliar with how a PC generates emissions at that level. Could it be linked to your garage door opener using Wi-Fi?
It's a new issue since installing two fresh PCs. The garage door functions properly without any devices connected, but it becomes difficult to operate the remote when the computers are running or turned on.
It eliminates any possibilities I had considered. Do both configurations look alike? Specific details could be useful. Particularly, how do they perform together?
I started by checking the basics—WiFi was working, antenna or connection seemed fine, but signal remained weak even with my wife’s PC on. I’m compiling a spreadsheet to track every fix attempt and see what works best. It looks like the issue isn’t just one thing, but likely a mix of factors.
they shouldn't be, yet the outlet for the opener is positioned right in the middle of the ceiling or floor, just above or below it, possibly close enough to cause interference. I’ll look into the breakers… not on the same circuit.
New power sources, old meter confirmed 3 Volts. As requested, devices are idle: remote stays past the driveway edge; machines are active possibly 15 feet or less, near the surface.
