EA stopped releasing their MOBA title "Dawngate".
EA has stopped their MOBA title after nearly 18 months in beta testing. Key points from the article: "We developed a game in Dawngate that went beyond just copying existing MOBAs, advancing the genre significantly." The team feels they didn’t achieve the expected results and acknowledges the learning process during beta. They respect EA’s choice to discontinue the project, especially given the current turmoil at Ubisoft. Source: http://www.pcgamer.com/eas-dawngate-moba...open-beta/
We already have enough. Dota, LoL and Blizzard's upcoming MOBAs should exceed what we require.
EA might have missed the release window and delayed it further for BF4.
We don't require additional MOBAs, though Blizzard's move would be impressive. The passion here is intense.
I said it once and I stand firm about it. There is a LOT of room on the MOBA genre for innovation. MOBAS are just multi player arenas, you start each game on a map, with the same amount of players, and complete an objective with your unit/s; nobody said it needed 4 skills a level cap, three lanes and a enemy base to destroy, that's one of the thousand possibilities. Companies just look at it all the other way.
