I just got a new Windows PC and noticed some odd behavior. Illustrator files aren’t updating on my Windows desktop. No alerts appear, and the .ai folders remain empty. Here’s what I’ve tried so far: verified internet connection, confirmed ample storage on both Mac and Windows, checked Dropbox space, looked for conflicting characters in filenames, reinstalled Dropbox several times, changed file names and locations on my Mac, and moved .ai files between devices. On other devices like iPhone and MacBook Pro, the files appear to sync properly, showing up on Dropbox and the website. Key point: whenever I save or move an .ai file, both my Mac and Windows update, but the files don’t appear until later. This only happens with .ai files—other formats sync correctly everywhere. Need assistance fixing this so I can work from home smoothly.

I don't rely on Creative Cloud. The files are stored elsewhere.

I’m a freelance motion designer using Dropbox with my company. My files are stored only here, and when I upload them, they’re visible at the office. The devices there are all Macs, and the same goes for when I access them from other machines.

The issue appears only on my desktop in Windows 10. The Dropbox desktop app doesn’t sync .ai files, while other file types do. I tested uploading an .ai file from my Mac and it synced on my Windows PC, but when I searched for it, it wasn’t found. I also tried with a PNG file, which worked fine on my Windows PC. I work remotely from home using my MacBook Pro and a Windows desktop, and I don’t have access to the office computers in another country.

I don’t understand, have you checked the Dropbox tech support? This issue hasn’t happened on my Windows 10 computer, and neither with my .ai or .psd files.

It's really strange, especially since it only occurs with AI files. I tried reaching out to support, but I think they'll take a long time to respond. Right now I'm removing Dropbox from my computer and will reinstall it, making sure it doesn<|pad|> to not clash with my antivirus. I'm pretty sure any conflict would cause problems beyond just AI files.
