I’m only planning to grab DS2 once the re-release lands in the bargain bin. I don’t really support their approach. I get why they’re re-releasing on next-gen systems—it’s slow and requires new copies—but the PC version could’ve been simply updated. Splitting multiplayer and forcing people to repurchase feels unreasonable. I liked the original game, but buying it at retail would ruin my satisfaction.
I completely understand your stance. Expecting PC players to buy the game multiple times for what feels like just a visual patch seems unrealistic. I bought it during the winter sale and was cautioned by many reviews about the update. I chose to skip DS2 until the new version drops and prices fall. The recent announcement that Bloodborne isn’t available on PC also left a negative impression.
I'm purchasing SOTFs to handle more enemies, additional co-op, and extra invader slots. I'm holding off until we understand the pricing structure. Told my friends not to buy it yet.
It's a Sony title, you shouldn't be upset I'm not even bothered by it. What bothers me is they're dividing the servers between the two games. My friends and I want to play together with everyone having the same version, but they're splitting an already limited user base into two separate versions. There have been major updates to enemy layouts and numbers to reflect the boost in power from modern consoles and PCs. This video highlights the rise in enemy counts in a few sections, particularly around 2:30.
Yeah, CD really impacted me when I first faced that boss. It showed how crucial it is to keep the equipment load under 25% for quick progression in some cases. After taking that boss down, it took me more than an hour to locate the stairs next to his boss's fog. That was more frustrating than losing multiple times! Nice work on the art, by the way—those drawings almost resemble the hallway with the two Fang Boars leading to Duke's Archives... how did that demon manage to climb there? I shouldn't be getting too worked up; I just wanted to enjoy Bloodborne, but I won’t buy a PS4 for it. With the current console generation, I get why developers might hesitate or struggle to port games to PC. Now that both XB1 and PS4 run on x86/GCN, it's disappointing exclusives still exist. Either way, I'm looking forward to playing DS2.
It's tough being on the side that doesn't get the games you want to talk about—Forza, Sunset Overdrive, and a few other Xbox exclusives. But ultimately, it's not just about spite; someone asked for a slot, so why not fill it? From has a strong relationship with Sony and understands the risks better. It allows them to create a bigger, more ambitious title, like Dark Souls II, which served as a stepping stone between these two projects.
