This indicates a compatibility issue with the high-resolution display. The problem occurs only when using the 4K monitor, suggesting a potential conflict between the graphics settings or driver configuration on your laptop.

Can't help with the game as I'm not familiar with it, but a quick and easy trick for screenshots... Shift-PrintScreen (PrtScrn) Open any image editor (Windows XP includes paint, Windows 10 includes Paint 3D). Press Ctrl-V or Shift-Insert to do a screen dump into the editor. I seem to remember you saying your machine runs XP. That could be the issue, I don't think XP can run the newer Doom games.

I didn't hear it explicitly. It seems the original poster referenced someone talking about an XP machine. Not everyone owns several devices. Still, I'm curious—can Win10 work alongside a Windows XP installation?

Well, the reason why I couldn't just print screen and dump into paint is because that little window in the screenshot came up and closed in the blink of an eye. I had to record my screen with OBS, throw the video into Premiere Pro, scroll to the exact single frame that it existed, and save it out that way. Then, I had to convert it to PNG because this forum only allows 20mb images and the original jpeg screenshot was like 23mb. I'm running Windows 11 on that particular computer. I haven't built the Windows XP machine yet. I still only have a CPU and a 120mm fan.

It's possible with a bit of trickery, but I wouldn't recommend it since you'd need to either modify XP for UEFI support or switch UEFI to work with older systems every time.

Yeah, if I'd slowed down each time I attempted to launch Doom 3, I might have caught it. I pressed the play button, it mentioned syncing data, launching the game, and a small window appeared—on my screen it looked like a blur due to its speed. I repeated the process several times and thought it might be worth trying to actually view it. I attempted printscreening it, but it was just too quick of a blue effect. My friend was just testing the game and had to play on my desktop using my profile. Now I plan to see if I can send him the save file.

Can I configure more launch settings? Consider adding the following parameters: +set r_fullscreen -1, +set r_windowHeight "YOUR RESOLUTION HERE", +set r_windowWidth "YOUR RESOLUTION HERE", +set r_windowY 0, +set r_windowX 0.

Before seeing this, I experimented by disconnecting the 4k display and playing on the laptop screen. It functioned properly. I’ll likely need to adjust the configuration file as you mentioned. The game struggled with the 4k resolution because it couldn’t automatically recognize the screen after a previous session. It required manual setup—playing on the main screen then connecting to a second one. Edit: For those reading later, my earlier advice about searching for Gamepass Doom 3 save files and sharing them isn’t feasible.

Doom 3 feels dated. 2004 I think it's still relevant.
