The memory controller lives inside the main processor, so don't trust a blinking light right away to tell you if something broke. If you've tried swapping one stick at a time and your computer still won't turn on, then it's probably just that CPU that's failing. Both sticks likely aren't bad together; the chance of both being broken is low.

Why don't you start using your Am5 system soon? Some systems need about ten minutes to learn when you use them for memory training.
