Does it be the character traits or the expertise that defines your top esports competitors?

For me, it's about the personality. I'd prefer to see a guy get hit in a tournament, but still have fun and make jokes while doing so. Not winning matters, and I'd rather be an emotionless robot who stays silent on stream or in any other way except with a monotone voice to teammates.
The ability is notable, but I wouldn't settle for someone who excels only in the game. Character matters too, but I wouldn't pick one over the other when deciding my favorite professional players.
I spend more time watching speedrunners nowadays, and I believe it's the personality that makes me keep watching one particular runner long after they've done an amazing run.
Also not directly connected to eSports. Recently I decided to revisit Path of Exile after feeling overwhelmed by it before. To aid my understanding, I joined Twitch and discovered two streamers who significantly contributed to my learning and enjoyment of the game. One streamer had a small audience, allowing for more personal interaction through chat, which made the complex game easier to grasp. The other streamer had a large following and has a very entertaining personality, showing a genuine passion for the game even though he enjoys it mainly for fun and new experiences. When I watch actual eSports, I usually pick a team at random and support them without knowing the details about the players or teams. I agree with the idea that there’s no single standard for what makes a streamer or an esports player enjoyable to watch.
I think I have the skill since I can learn from him. Particularly in CSGO, I enjoy watching s1mple or kennyS because of their aggression, which fits my playing style too.
SKILL, I believe it doesn’t quite earn the kind of audience admiration we hope for.
If I had to visualize it, most people—beyond just Esports or any other sport—appreciate watching a player’s personality shine through.
This is true across every game; now that I reflect on it, I find the skill side of a player’s character especially appealing.
What I’m conveying is that today, personality plays a big role, and in the past, I valued skill more.
Seeing Daigo's talent and character drew me into Fighting Games. Observing Tokido's abilities kept me engaged.
