It seems likely it will affect PC eventually, possibly a year from now. They’ve just released the latest titles, and the only exceptions are mostly Sony exclusives.
The original FF7 version was released for PC, which suggests the remake is probably coming soon. However, it won't be long before the PS4 release. Japanese developers typically focus on consoles and aim for specific frame rates, often locking at 30fps. This can lead to issues if developers tie important game mechanics to that frame rate, causing instability. On PC ports of console JRPGs, this problem is likely to appear more frequently for some time. If things go well, the combat sections might maintain 60fps or higher, while other parts remain capped at 30fps.
SE is clearly targeting PC for future releases after a long time, moving beyond the games from ten years ago. The 3, 4/after years, 13 trilogy, type-0 HD, and 5 all indicate a strong belief in PC as a solid platform. I still have some concerns about 15 and the 7 remake staying at 30 on PC. While some argue they’re locked due to age or mobile origins, the 13 and 13-2 both cap at 60, and 13-3 probably matches that.
It’s likely to drop in 2026, around a decade after the PS4/Xbone launch. 10 years prior, it should be available on PC in 2017. Still uncertain. I’m holding onto Final Fantasy VI, expecting it to leverage modern graphics like Android/iOS, though I’m sure the game will feel very old-school.
