It's confusing why someone would enjoy both options when they seem so distinct, especially since CRPGs highlight the advantages of PC gaming with a focus on player freedom and decision-making.

Want to clash tonight? Feeling a bit confrontational? Why not embrace the contrast—cars versus trucks, sushi versus BBQ, flip-flops versus high tops?

Do you enjoy both? If yes, what aspect of JRPGs appeals to you? One thing you like is the immersive storytelling that draws players into rich worlds.

Many elements come into play, such as drama, passion, art style, the good versus evil theme, and the protagonist's struggles and challenges. By the way, CRPG refers to Computer RPGs. So you seem to be referring to a Western versus Eastern perspective?

CRPG isn't a term I'm familiar with. I checked my sources, but it doesn't seem to be widely recognized. A few examples that pop up are BG3, Fallout, Neverwinter Nights, and Warhammer—none of which really caught my attention.

This term stands for "computer RPGs," highlighting titles that modify the mechanics, narratives, and visual style of tabletop RPGs. That explains why certain series appear—mostly rooted in DnD or heavily inspired by them, such as Fallout (original and New Vegas), not the less reputable Bethesda releases). What makes these games appealing? If you believe those are the sole factors for engagement, why restrict discussion to RPGs alone and overlook other genres? Why focus only on JRPGs and CRPGs? In reality, the distinctions between them are minimal compared to genres like one-on-one fighting or point-and-click adventures. Also, CRPGs tend to prioritize gameplay over mechanics, offering countless options that let players choose endlessly without needing real skill. They’re usually passive, letting you express yourself through character abilities rather than your own actions. I’d argue that immersive simulations offer a stronger goal, as they value player autonomy and decision-making alongside challenging gameplay.

So basically, you're right about the trend—most JRPGs seem pretty similar lately. It feels like they're running out of fresh ideas. Final Fantasy's latest entry feels a bit bland, and Fire Emblem is everywhere. The mana series is trying something new, but Wild Arms is long gone. The ten random JRPGs I saw on Steam look like they're just spin-offs. Genshin Impact and similar games don't help either. Still, JRPGs and C-RPGs have their own strengths. I appreciate the storytelling and cinematic style they offer. If you're after deep worlds and immersive stories, go for Fallout 2, BG2, Pillars of Eternity, etc.
