I tried fixing this through cmd, but nothing worked. I backed up my save files and apps before reinstalling. Even though I didn't put the old files back in, it still doesn't make a shortcut appear automatically. This bug is really annoying because I don't know how to fix it at all. It's strange that my Samsung 870 Evo used to work fine back when this started happening until now. There must be something weird going on with the drive itself, or maybe it's just a new version of Windows causing trouble. If anything were wrong with the drive, Steam wouldn't run at all, so I don't think that's the problem. It has to be some new update or setting messing things up. But I still appreciate your help here in Colif. EDIT: Yes, I actually went into manage and added a desktop shortcut for my game. When I installed it, I checked the box that says "create desktop shortcut." Even though I refreshed the page now, the shortcut shows up on the screen, but unlike other games where it happens right away, this one needs to refresh first before showing up.

It's probably not your PC because other shortcuts are working. Try scanning windows to see if it finds something right click on the start menu choose terminal (admin) if it opens as command prompt, click the drop down arrow in the title row and pick powershell copy paste this command into the window: repair-windowsimage -online -restorehealth and press enter then type sfc /scannow and press enter restart your pc if the scan fixes any files because some fixes need a restart to work. The first command repairs the files that SFC uses to clean things, and SFC also fixes system files. SFC is System File Checker. First command runs DISM - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows...windows-11 otherwise it's a really strange steam bug. it might be leaving registry entries behind and when you reinstall, it just uses them again. if you going to look in there back it up before hand - https://neosmart.net/wiki/backup-restore-registry/ otherwise the bottom of this shows its location in registry, you could check if it still exists after an uninstall - https://help.steampowered.com/en/faqs/vi...-F600-0266

The Windows picture looks good, but I'm curious if leaving this blank makes a difference. SFC found no problems. https://imgur.com/GuijLS8 View: https://imgur.com/GuijLS8 You're correct that the Steam registry is still there even after removing Steam. Should I delete it? I already backed up the registry. EDIT: I'll delete the registry and see what happens.

I deleted the Steam settings on my computer and in my user accounts, but it still won't make a desktop shortcut by itself. Maybe I should talk to them instead.
