I installed a game on Steam and asked it to make a desktop shortcut. It didn't do that automatically for me. I had to click refresh just to see the shortcut appear. Even after trying full control settings and changing inheritance rules, the shortcut still wasn't created. I even cleared the icon cache but nothing worked either. Every other shortcut I made works right away. But Steam shortcuts don't show up on their own. Why is this happening? Is there a fix for this? It's not like it used to be with Windows 10. This started when I reinstalled Windows 11 after putting in my new SSD. Steam already had its files on the old drive, but now they are on the new one. My computer specs include: Intel i5-13600k, 64GB RAM, a graphics card from MSI GeForce RTX 2060 VENTUS GP OC with 6GB of video memory, an MSI MAG B660 TOMAHAWK motherboard, and the operating system is Windows 11 Pro. I have three hard drives: two are Samsung 980 Pro 1TB, one is Crucial MX500 2TB, another is a fourth drive that you didn't mention in your list.

No, I use my 970 evo plus nvme as C drive and have a few games on it. Steam makes quick shortcuts automatically. It might be your turn to make one new shortcut and see if that helps. Create a local user and give them admin rights - https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/wind...915af2a34d go to c:/users/currentusernamefolder copy the contents of this folder onto the new users folder that gives it all the same access and removes need to download anything again. logon...

Someone had to run Steam with full admin rights to make this work. You can't easily create desktop shortcuts for these games. Here is some help and tips from the Steam community: https://steamcommunity.com

I already tried to fix this, but it is still broken. I will try reinstalling it now so we can see if that helps.

Here is a quick update: it's still broken. Even after running as admin, the shortcuts just don't show up at all.

I've bought lots of games on Steam lately and each one made me click a new button to play it on my computer screen. Maybe my game folder isn't working right, or maybe I just need to try fixing the installation by clicking "remove" then "add back." Have you tried that?

I've got 287 games on my computer. If I put an icon for every single one on the desktop, it could get messy. But I can still put each game's icon there by going to "Manage" and then choosing "Add desktop icon."

You can't fix things by adding or removing parts, just uninstalling them. Is there any chance Windows will get repaired on its own?

open command prompt (run as administrator) The only other option is to uninstall and reinstall the client. That takes forever. How to fix your Steam Client on a Windows PC You can make a repair for the Steam Client on a Windows 10 or 11 computer by typing a special command in Command Prompt. Here are all the steps here. www.thewindowsclub.com Have you tried right clicking the games in your Steam library and choosing create shortcut?

You can just take out that thing and get a brand new one later.
