It tracks frame rate using NVidia's overlay from the beginning. I noted earlier that performance dropped over time during intense sessions like playing Operations. I fixed a potential memory leak and will check if it improved the numbers. Initially, I expected around 60 FPS, rising to 75, then dropping to 50, 45, 30 as shown in my latest game. My CPU was handling the load, but I wasn’t anticipating noticeable lag drops that would affect gameplay.

Consider checking more details, stop all unnecessary tasks. For instance, nVidia's overlay might be the issue—sometimes BF1 itself is responsible. It’s common to refresh drivers for various components: chipset, NIC, graphics card, audio card, etc.

I’m experiencing consistent 80FPS drops, never dropping below 60FPS. My system runs as usual. I’ve found a fix for the issue you described. Turn off your computer and remove the graphics card from the motherboard. Reinsert it and then reinstall the Nvidia drivers. Let the card sit out for about 30 seconds to a minute.

Thank you for that solution. I'll try it out and report back to you. If an i5 ivybridge with a 970 doesn't get the spikes I get, then there's definitely a problem. Keep in mind though, everything for me is set to high or ultra (I have tuned down the really demanding settings like AA of course).

This article is really helpful and makes me feel good about my i5. It’s cool to see even the newest videos mentioning i7s while I’m using Adobe Premiere and After Effects. Editing 2K footage from a GoPro never slowed down on my system. For others, it might seem like everyone needs an i7 now, especially since I’ve been working with high-quality projects lately. Just be careful with NVIDIA settings—I noticed some odd behavior after rebooting and the game performance dropped significantly.

My 3570K @ 4.5ghz remains capable of any game. My BF1 configurations are 1920x1080 ultra everything with AI set to medium. I launch BF1 in DX11. ThatAngryGnome, please share your findings. Taking out the graphics card erases all hardware connection memory.

I've been waiting about a week (or longer because school pulled me in) to tackle my graphics card and dust the system thoroughly. The impact wasn't significant, but I did notice a brief lag spike where my frames per second fell to single digits for ten seconds straight. Overall, the performance stayed within a range of 60-75 FPS, though it often dropped to 35-45 or lower at times. My next steps involve a clean Windows install. I'm not very hopeful since I've already done that twice before (including reinstalling BF1) and the problem continues. I'm considering replacing my RAM with another model and, if that doesn't help, swapping out my CPU—specifically a Haswell chip (4400, which is worse than my 4670k)—to test whether the issue lies there. Additionally, I have another Z97 motherboard to inspect. In my original post I didn't mention this, but I've played Witcher 3 at near maximum settings on this machine and it ran perfectly. I haven't experienced any issues with that game, so it might just be related to BF1. It's frustrating because I expect smoother performance on a setup like mine. I'll likely post the results later if I remember. Thanks for your support! *My RAM is 16GB, 4x4 units. The two 4x2 units, although identical in model and all, were purchased separately, possibly from different batches.*

Have you checked the different Reddit discussions about BF1 performance threads concerning Pre-Rendered Frames? Did you notice it stabilizing around 55-60fps? With an i5 4690 and a GTX970, it rarely fell below 50fps, often keeping 65-90FPS under both high and low loads. I switched to using pre-rendered frames instead of the default settings in Frostbite. My GPU utilization stayed stable, usage percentages remained around 60%, and frame consistency improved significantly, making the game much more enjoyable compared to when I began.

Aim for your GPU performance at 95% or higher while playing BF1. Your 970 appears optimized, showing speeds around 104-108%. Frames usually stay above 70% most of the time. I haven’t seen anything near 60% before. In intense scenarios like a large multiplayer battle, it might drop to the 50s for a brief moment. I monitor this on my G15 display while gaming. On titles such as CS:GO, I see 280-290fps and the game runs at around 40% power to hit those frames. To the OP, consider using only 8GB RAM instead of 16GB. Ideally, stick to just two overclocking settings for stability. Even with standard speeds, your 4670K should comfortably reach 80FPS. My final tip is to remove and reinstall your NVIDIA drivers with the latest versions.

To launch the console, PerfOverlay.DrawGraph should suffice to display the performance graph. In the console, you can view all available commands and have tab auto-fill to locate the right one. You’ll likely see CPU spikes (yellow marks) during frame drops. This visual aid can help you pinpoint if the issue stems from gameplay. If spikes appear during explosions or heavy particle effects, lowering the settings might assist. Additional useful commands include PerfOverlay.* methods for CPU, GPU, FPS, and more. You can save these in a file named user.cfg, place it in the battlefield 1 directory, and let it run automatically. Good luck, and may this help you troubleshoot effectively.
