Screen tearing and input lag might appear as frame drops. Your previous comment suggests it could be more than just a smoothness issue on the monitor.

I notice the FPS decreases on my counter, I have a 60Hz display (and will get a 165Hz one) so I enable v sync to avoid screen tearing until my new screen arrives, which then drops to 5 frames and it's really obvious and bothersome. Will the ASUS VG258QR or the Asus VG248QG help with this issue because both include v sync? If you're curious about the monitor I use, I play a lot of games so I'm unsure if my screen is the cause of the FPS drops. As I mentioned earlier, this monitor doesn't seem gaming-oriented, so it might be the display itself that's affecting the performance.
