Hey everyone, I'm facing a challenge with my Samsung QN90B. I need to send a 4k, 120hz, 10-bit HDR signal while running three other monitors. The QN90 works perfectly without Game Mode, but when I switch to it for 120hz 10bit HDR, one of my other displays shuts down unexpectedly. I've tested various cables and ports, even tried connecting one of the other monitors to the iGPU to avoid the 3080, but it still doesn't work. The other system specs are listed, and I'm looking for advice on how to resolve this issue.
I beleive it is a conflict with the x 4k monitor that the 3080 can actually output. I dont know if there is a way to circumvent the maximum x 4k so that only one monitor has that resolution and still allow a further 3 monitors to run at other resolutions. Never tried that myself. I only use a single 1440p 34" and a small secondary screen to monitor the PC via AIDA64.. Just found another link where a tech says the following Display Port 1.4a it's going to hit the limit of 8K UHD 60hz which is being hit by the use of two 4K monitors. You might have reached the limit running 3 monitors with one at 4k 120 hz ??
You're probably surpassing the GPU's bandwidth capacity. 4K at 60 Hz with 8 bits per channel needs about 12.54 Gbps, whereas 120 Hz at 10 bits uses 32.27 Gbps—more than 2.5 times the amount. Nvidia states the combined max is 7680 x 4320 at 60 Hz, equating to 62 Gbps. Your single monitor at 120 Hz with 10 bits is already consuming half of that. Other factors could also be involved.
You're wondering if using the iGPU on the 13600k would resolve the bandwidth issue. You also tried adjusting monitor connections and found no improvement.
They all show HDR status. Check the instructions and adjust brightness settings between SDR and HDR for your screen type. This ensures proper interpretation by your display.
Reviewed further and it seems HDR10 can trigger blank screens on other monitors. No effective fix found except the user’s advice to either run all monitors in SDR mode or enable HDR and play on one device. Consider reverting drivers if possible. Verify in the Nvidia Control panel that HDR Content isn’t active on other displays.
I've received a fresh HDMI 2.1 cable for the Samsung since I don't have any updated ones. However, the TV only supports HDMI. I have some DP to HDMI adapters but haven't been able to use them successfully.
The QN90 is the sole HDR screen. Even without HDR or using a lower bitrate, the display fails completely. I manage three units but not four. The curious part is that the 4K model doesn’t collapse, it’s one of the two 1080p units. Which driver should match which version? It seems strange that NVIDIA drivers might cause trouble even when using the integrated GPU. Unless there’s a PCIe lane restriction (still unclear). But the GPU is installed in a Gen 5 slot.
I believe the issue stems from an HDR limitation or setting rather than a bandwidth problem.
