Current AAA games would gain a lot from additional threads. An older i7 or Xeon processor works well for this purpose.

I suggest targeting a 3770K and boosting its speed. This will likely improve performance. However, be cautious with aftermarket overclocking components—past users might have pushed them too far, risking damage and reducing their lifespan.
