Wow, really? I’m sorry for that... And you’re in the Czech Republic? The PC parts prices look terrible.

I never thought of my condition as a disability, but to make a long story short, one of my eyes is very weak compared to the other, and my regular vision is akin to having one eye closed, with the side of my nose accounting for a large portion of my peripheral vision. I also have to use bifocal lenses, as neither of my eyes can focus on much. It isn't really a disability , and I know there are plenty of people who have it worse, but this will probably make it hard for me to use virtual reality headsets; something I've been excited about for years. Although I can see clearly enough with the appropriate lenses and a bit of effort, I find myself paying a lot more effort to the aural aspects of a game's presentation. I'm more a fan of slow-paced games rather than games like First-person shooters, and the sound mixing and voice acting in a game really stand out to me. It's also one of the central elements I incorporate when it comes to Skyrim modding. On the non-tech side of things, my old math teacher was completely blind in one eye and almost blind in the other (-13 or something, I believe). And yet he was an absolute champ at Ultimate Frisbee. He claims he was as good as he was because he could calculate the trajectory of a Frisbee moments after it was thrown. I know it sounds farfetched, but the guy would score an obscene amount of goals every match without fail, and intercept the best of throws consistently.

Have you ever searched for tools or equipment that didn’t work, so you had to make do without anything extra? You’re welcome! Thanks a lot to your dad.

Your teacher seems to share some similarities with you—one weaker eye, the other a bit more usable, but still not exceptional. With me, I have a blind spot in the middle of each eye (the right eye is noticeably larger), so I rely mainly on the edges. I keep zooming at 200% to 300% on the screen and use a digital magnifier for small text during slow games. In FPS, I struggle because focusing is hard when I squint to stay on track. Still, I keep trying, especially for fast-paced games—I love GTA 5 right now, though I used to enjoy League of Legends. Ironically, my top character was Lee Sin...

It seems you appreciate games with rich visuals and immersive storytelling. BioShock Infinite offers a captivating experience with its stunning environments, memorable narrative, and thoughtful design. While it may not fit your usual preferences for first-person shooters, its art style and atmosphere provide a refreshing break from typical gameplay. The pacing is generally smooth, allowing you to appreciate its beauty without strain.

They are indeed, particularly now with the low value of our currency Sad But we enjoy free healthcare, so I've been using a computer since five. I'm comfortable with it and haven't checked it much because I never needed anything special.

I'm dealing with a condition that mainly impacts my lungs but also affects other parts of my body. Even though I'm disabled, it doesn't make me noticeably limited. I cough frequently, which might seem unusual to others using voice chat, but I usually rely on push-to-talk features. In games like Elite, if I know I'm about to cough, I mute my microphone. Since I've always been a heavy cougher, I can manage it well and keep playing, though occasional coughing fits can disrupt my focus.

I experience some visual challenges that affect both distant and near vision, even when wearing glasses. I also face reduced clarity in certain areas of my sight and have partial loss of peripheral vision. My performance in fast-paced FPS games is generally weaker, though I’ve played the Battlefield series extensively and often choose roles that suit my strengths. I prefer slower-paced genres such as strategy games, puzzles, RTS titles, and turn-based strategy games. I use a 24-inch monitor positioned about 0.5 meters from my eyes, with Windows set to higher DPI and these forums zoomed to 140%. I have a few friends with visual impairments, one of whom plays frequently. My experience differs from yours—while you mention a friend with severe impairment, I’ve built my setup since 2006 and manage well with lighting and occasional hardware checks. I’m comfortable with audio versions of many games, including the Warcraft series. Personally, I’d say this is likely a disability if it persists despite medical advice, but it’s not a definitive diagnosis.

Someone with significant health challenges once shared a perspective that disability emerges when obstacles hinder your goals. While the definition of a disability can be debated, I found his insight valuable. I’ll likely postpone the surgery for a bit, but since I have two eyes and one is less effective, I’m considering trying it on that weaker eye first. If it succeeds, great! If not, I’m fine with where I am now.
