No way to delete the Metro feature in Windows 8.1. It's a built-in component and can't be removed.

They won't try to hide it by adding modern tools, just keep using the old way it was meant to work

It seems like you're suggesting installing a specific tool. Would you like more details about Start8 or StartIsBack?

I've used standard shell from the start on W8, but seeing the management panel feels off, almost like something is wrong. Why weren't there two different operating systems available?

Absolutely understood. Alright, I tried searching it, but the concept still makes sense.

You can easily add a helpful answer. Just right-click the start button on your desktop. This lets you disable many features so your PC boots directly to the desktop. You can also set it up so pressing Windows opens a list of apps instead of just showing the app screen. It’s hard to fully remove this setting, but if you don’t want it, using Windows 7 is better. Although it hides things more, it’s unlikely to be removed in Windows 8 because it’s deeply integrated. Hope this helps! Sir TDH

I've been using Start8 by Stardock since Windows 8 launched. It costs around $3, but it looks great and functions very well—likely the most attractive and practical option, though it isn't free.
