Turn off Cortana completely on Windows 10. It should no longer appear in the task bar, and it won’t be using memory resources.

It's challenging because Microsoft often inserts random elements into background tasks. You can remove Cortana using PowerShell, and there are many online tutorials to help with this.

It's the third biggest memory user on your laptop, following Chrome and Superfetch.

Superfetch helps build a list of files on your computer for future searches. The only way to delete Cortana is by installing LTSB 2016 and using it. Possibly via PowerShell?

You might want to use a different language version. As someone from Hungary, since Cortana isn't available there, it doesn't work on Windows. You could reinstall Windows and pick a country without Cortana support, like Hungary, or choose English as the language after setup.

Prefetch mainly helps the operating system choose programs you prefer and load them into memory ahead of time, which is especially helpful for mechanical drives. For SSDs, check the link for ways to turn off superfectch and prefetch, potentially reducing writes.

Cortana's resource usage varies, typically around 70-80MB when idle. To run smoothly you may need more than the default, especially if you want to keep 100MB available. Assuming you have 1GB RAM, increasing it to 2GB would be wise. Consider using a lighter browser like Firefox instead of Cortana. You can't simply turn it off; you must disable it properly, which may impact features like searching the Start menu, syncing notifications, SMS replies, and more.

The search bar is standard on Windows, possibly due to Cortana not being available in this region.
