Recently, I increased the overclock of my Radeon RX 580 XTR and its power limit, which improved performance in Fortnite that day, keeping frames above 200. A few days later, I returned to play and was only getting around 150 FPS, sometimes dropping to 48 FPS for a short period. There’s a “Creative” mode in Fortnite where players can design islands with buildings and structures. My friend and I were on one island where I previously achieved over 200 FPS before the overclock and the day of the change. After the overclock, I noticed around 40 FPS in certain areas, and in the lobby with uncapped frames, I was limited to about 200 FPS.

There was a 10.2v update for the game the day before my overclock, so it’s unclear if that impacted things. Most recent drivers are installed, Windows drivers are fresh, Power Plan is set to High Performance, Fortnite is prioritized for high power performance. My settings remain unchanged: View Distance: Far, Shadows: Off, Anti-Aliasing: Off, Textures: Low, Effects: Low, Post Processing: Low. I’m not sure if my game graphics settings are affecting the issue.

I tried using MSI Afterburner and Radeon Settings to further overclock the GPU and increase wattage. After uninstalling Afterburner, I’m uncertain whether the overclocks are still active.

Details:
Manufacturer: CyberPowerPC GMA2800BST
CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 (reduced to 3.5hz)
GPU: Radeon RX 580 XTR
RAM: 8gb DDR4
MOBO: MSI B350M Bazooka

Consider trying a test run without the overclocks first.
Has anything changed?

I’m uncertain about how to undo the overclocks, that’s the issue. Removing MSI AB and adjusting the fan speeds made it look exactly like before installation. Do you know if there are specific files you need to delete or uninstall to verify the reversal?

There was no requirement to remove Afterburner. The reset function brings everything back to the card's original settings, such as the fan curve. Any overclocks aren't configured to activate at startup; you need to adjust that manually. If you simply accessed the source folder and deleted files, it might not have been fully uninstalled. Make sure to go through Add or Remove Programs carefully and reinstall it properly.

Will reinstalling MSI AB and resetting settings resolve the issue? In my case, I looked for “uninstall programs” in the start menu, which led to a list of installed apps. I only clicked the uninstall option for MSI AB. Are the overclock files still present?

After removing Afterburner via 'Uninstall Programs', the overclock profiles are also gone (they're in the same directory). Now, with the GPU OC resolved, do the drops continue?

Yes, the issue persists. It seems reinstalling Fortnite isn't resolving it.
